After our only and first conversation, he had the people who worked for him answer emails or direct calls. "Chad and State Farm have been the worst insurance company I’ve ever had to deal with. To start, we had a house fire at 2am on a Sunday. When I tried calling State Farm NO ONE answered. No one answered at corporate, no one answered at Sutherland’s office. No one answered my calls, texts or emails until 11am on Monday when I finally got ahold of Chad who said he didn’t know why that would have happened but it was probably my phone service (it wasn’t) and that he should have been there that night with a check for $5000. He did eventually show up with a check for half that amount. And that was the last time I actually saw Chad my State Farm agent. I called him again several days later to ask why we hadn’t heard from our State Farm adjuster yet to which he told me I needed to “adjust my expectations” around the situation and that things like this can take months. Instead of being talked to like a hysterical woman, it would have been lovely if ANYONE at State Farm would have apologized (to begin with) and then maybe had taken the time to sit down with us for a few moments and walked us through what the next weeks/months might look like. Instead, wonderful Chad kept passing the buck to corporate and it took 8 days just to get a call back from our State Farm adjuster who was going to “answer questions” for us. He didn’t do shit but say one thing then do another. SF cut off our funding for housing after just 8 weeks. We were displaced for 315 days. We moved 22 times. State Farm doesn’t care. We had to hire an attorney, request an appraisal and they still owe us money from that decision over a year ago. Then to add insult to injury, they doubled our insurance. No call from good ol’ Chad to discuss why or how we could save. Just straight up doubled. I hope every person with a job tied to State Farm has to experience 1/10th the pain/anxiety/fear we lived through this year. You are not decent people."

"Our experience with State Farm has been over multiple generations and agents (as they retired). We ae now moving out of state and needed find a new State Farm agent. With that being said, we couldn’t leave without giving Chad and his team a thumbs up for all their assistance over the years! They have always been very knowledgeable and eager help. "Edit to respond to the comment from Sutherland's office: No, there has not been an investigation by State Farm yet (or if there has been, nobody contacted me for my input and nobody sent me results of the investigation) and the state has not yet started their investigation. Please be sure to be honest in your comments. Original comment: After being the victim of domestic abuse, this office allowed the abuser to make changes to my insurance policies without ever notifying me. I happened to find out accidentally from someone else and discovered that these changes were going to add $80+ to the amount that I already paid. This office has refused to apologize and states that they did nothing wrong, even though their actions appear to have violated State Farm’s written policy and may have violated state law. State Farm has also refused to let me speak to the underwriter’s supervisor, has refused to state their policy about domestic abuse victims, has made conflicting statements about what rules are followed, and has refused to put protections in place to prevent future problems. This problem comes a couple of months after discovering that another State Farm agency gave my private information to an unauthorized individual without ever asking my permission (still no follow up from State Farm to this day). State Farm's underwriter for MN was completely unfamiliar with MN's insurance regulatory structure. Even other State Farm agents say that what happened should never have happened and was wrong. Minnesota Department of Commerce (this is the department that regulates insurance) has requested to investigate these incidents and this office. Maybe stuff like this is why Consumer Reports rates State Farm so low now."
